About the Trainings:The First Responder Training Course addresses human trafficking from the unique perspectives of firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers. Participants will:
- Understand the issue of human trafficking
- Recognize human trafficking scenarios
- Know response protocols
- Identify and collaborate with response partners
Description of Health Care Training:
Across the United States, more than 1.4 million healthcare professionals are in a critical position to recognize and respond to victims of human trafficking. Yet, many of these frontline professionals are unaware that exploitation is occurring right in their exam rooms, emergency departments, and clinics. This course offers a unique, trauma-informed lens into how exploitation intersects with the healthcare system – helping professionals recognize the subtle signs that often go unnoticed. From emergency room visits to routine check-ups, trafficked individuals may seek medical care multiple times while in exploitation. This training empowers providers to become proactive forces in prevention and intervention.
Flexible Sessions:
Monday through Thursday features four different 90-minute training sessions each day. Choose the session and day that works best for you!
Open Exhibit Hours: The exhibit is open to the public all day for self-guided tours—feel free to explore at your own pace. The Apathy Effect Exhibit: Experience immersive stories—through film, photography, and artifacts—about resilient survivors and advocates from SE Asia, Russia, Mexico, and the U.S.
