DESCRIPTION:IN THE CARE OF BURTON MOQUIST - JULY 22\, 1952 - JUNE 30\, 2023\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nBurton Moquist passed away June 30\, 2023 in Longmont\, CO\, he was 70 years old.  He was the Chamber President in 1997.\n\n\n\nCelebration of Life Gathering - 2:00pm\n\nRemembrance Service - 3:00pm\n\nOrchard Community Church\n\n470 Briggs St.\n\nErie\, CO  80516\n\n\n\nhttps://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/longmont-co/burton-moquist-11356044\n\nBurton was born on July 22\, 1952 in Denver\, CO to Stanley and Josephine "Dixie" Moquist. He graduated from Erie High School.\n\nIn 1969 his family moved to Brownsville (Western Subdivision of Erie\, Co) from Denver Colorado. Where his family continued Stanco Manufacturing at 470 Briggs Street. He attended his last years of School at Erie High School and resided in the area until purchasing a house in South Moore Park in Longmont\, Colorado in 1974. Raising his family in Longmont\, he married Cheryl A. Morgan until their divorce in 2003.\n\nBurton worked at Stanco Sales producing splicers for the motion picture industry\, when film went digital\, he went into business selling audio and video supplies to business' and school districts nationwide. He eventually opened an office supply and UPS shipping business in the Erie community in the mid 1994. He joined the Erie Chamber of Commerce\, and shortly became the President. He made many friends and helped put Erie\, Colorado on the map by starting the first Erie Town Fair\, helped direct the paving of the roads in Erie\, and bringing the first large community to Erie\, Vista Ridge.\n\nHe enjoyed dirt bikes\, camping\, wood working\, politics\, real estate\, cars\, and time with his family. Many of his friends remember him for his always cheerful attitude.\n\nBurton was preceded in death by his parents.\n\nHe is survived by his children Brandon (Karen) Moquist\, Jarrod Moquist and Audra Moquist\, and his grandchildren Damion Preston\, Emily Silver and Antonio Aguirre.\n\nA Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2pm on Friday July 28\, 2023\, with a 3pm remembrance service at the Orchard Community Church in Erie 470 Briggs St\, Erie\, CO 80516.
