When: July 14th, 15th and 16th, 2023

Where: Launch Site: County Road 5 & Colliers Pkwy Directly West Soaring Heights Pre K - 8 School

Parking: Free Parking at Soaring Heights Pre K - 8 School, 3280 Co Rd 5, Erie

Arrive at 6 am to see the balloons inflate and get ready for take off. Weather permitting the balloons may start taking off at 6am. The weather dictates everything including the launch times.
The Rocky Mountains are clearly visible in the distance as the sky comes alive with all the colors of the rainbow.  Join us during a new weekend for the Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival, and it's magical.  Come in person from 6:00am - 8:00am each morning, and watch the balloon inflate and take flight, weather permitting - No Pets Allowed on the launch field!

Balloon Glow

Miss the morning balloon launch on Saturday 7/15? No worries - come and enjoy a spectacular night glow from 7:30 - 9:30pm at the NE corner of Erie Parkway & County Line Road. We will have 7-8 balloons tethered with burners ablaze for you to enjoy.
While there, have some goodies from our dessert trucks and listen to music. Parking is available in the Erie Community Center parking lot @ 450 Powers St., Erie

Cancellations:
Many factors may cause the cancellation of a launch and Balloon Glow. (Rain, Fog, Wind are a few) Please check our website and Facebook page for information on daily for cancellations of Balloon Launch/Glow due to weather. Launches can be cancelled right up to launch time.

What not to bring:
During our Balloon Launch and Balloon Glow - No drones, dogs and smoking are allowed in the launch area. They pose a safety concert to the pilots and their balloons. We appreciate you keeping it safe for the Pilots.

We do not sell rides for the event. If you would like to book a hot air balloon flight, we suggest you contact Fair Winds Hot Air Balloons or call 303-939-9323.

We are seeking volunteers for this year's launch!
Are you available to volunteer at the launches July 14th, 15 and 16th from 5:30am until balloons launch (generally 9am at the latest)?
Pilots need crew members to help with setting up their balloons.
We also need volunteers to ensure there are no dogs on the launch field, "lost" crew members trying to find their pilot, etc. It will be a very fun time and no stress!!
We are so thankful for all the volunteer support that makes this great family-friendly community event a success!

Erie Chamber Friday Balloon Launch
Pilots arrived at the field at 5:30am for pilot briefing which includes weather and safety concerns.
Several balloons launched successfully and then a weather occurrence happened, the wind shifted 180 degrees. The balloons on the ground deflated and the balloons in the air landed as quickly as possible after discovering that the winds had picked up.
Several minor injuries have been reported, and our thoughts are with those affected.
